Georgia considers speeding a misdemeanor. While there is typically no jail time involved, you can face a hefty fine depending on how fast you were going. Georgia classifies speeding tickets in four categories with a more expensive fine the higher the speed. The categories are:

  • 15-18 mph over the limit
  • 19-23 mph over the limit
  • 24-33 mph over the limit

The price per ticket depends on the situation, but the maximum amount for a ticket is $1,000.
